I have a les paul R-9 and a Custom 22 that I gutted and put in seymour antiquities, orange cap, gibson pots and knobs and a PRS three way switch. After that the two guitars sounded equally killer and similar, although the faster PRS seems to do great hendrix while the Les paul does spot on Jimmy Page. The one thing I still didn't like about both guitars however was the flabby, muddy sounding neck pickups. The Okko Diablo fixed that right up and now the neck pickups have an incredible cool nasal honk with zero mud. Now when I go back to my bridge pickups I back off on the guitars tone knob and that's a first for me. No loss of tone definition or added harshness, just super rock/blues tone that maintains the touch sensitivity I love.

The Okko Diablo Gain + is one of the finest handmade pedals you can find anywhere. Having the Gain + option gives you 2 pedals in one, while maintaining the voice of the pedal in both settings. Giving you the option to set a low gain drive for your main sound, switching to the Gain + is just like turning the gain up – lot’s more of the good stuff without changing the overdriven character of the pedal.
The Okko Gain + stacks amazingly with so many other great pedals. Use it as a semi-overdriven channel for your clean tube amp, or use the full on Gain + mode to push another dirt pedal or a lightly driven tube amp into monster mayhem. This pedal turns a single channel tube amp into a 3 channel beast. ROCK ON!

I purchased the OKKO Diablo after reading some great reviews on The Gear Page, and listening to the Gregor Hilden clips posted on You Tube. After having the pedal for a week now, I must admit that the Gregor Hilden clips are pretty much "right on" as far as what this pedal is capable of. They are a must listen if you are thinking of purchasing this pedal.
I purchased this pedal to use with my Heritage Les Paul (Throbak pickups) through my Super Reverb Reissue loaded with Weber CTA Alnico 10's. In the regular (9 volt) mode it is very warm, sweet, and slightly compressed. In the high headroom (18 volt) mode it is still warm and sweet, but quite punchy as well. Robben Ford EASILY lives in the high headroom mode. This pedal pretty much KILLS the Zendrive I currently own for the Robben Ford thing. It is pretty much the PERFECT overdrive for a Blacface Fender amp if you are into the sweet "lowish" gain OD - bridge pickup tones ala Carlton and Ford. This pedal does do much more, and has more gain on tap than I would ever need or use, but that's not what I purchased it for.
Certainly worth checking out. Highly recommended. :)

Ken was right! The Diablo (I bought the standard model) has outstanding sound...the varied tones you can get out of this pedal remind me of the premier sounds of players like Robben Ford and Larry Carlton; thick, rich and sweet like maple syrup! I love it...and the variety of tones is endless based on tweaking of all the knobs...they all have subtle to major impacts on the overall sound. I use the pedal with my '60 dotneck ES-335, '59 reissue Sunburst Les Paul (all original 1950's parts) and '62 blonde Epiphone Sheraton through early 1960's Fender blackface and brownface combo amps set for clean rhythm sound...the Diablo provides the rich, cutting lead sound I require! HEARTILY RECOMMENDED Guitar-slingers!
